Come and take part in this wonderful full day event held in the heart of the 'Herb Capital of Ohio' by the Ohio Herb Education Center. This will be a full day event with classes and workshops from gardening to tea blending, herb walks, and plant and specialty item sales in a farmer's market type atmosphere.
I will be leading a workshop on "Gardening with Medicinal Plants", covering how to incorporate medicinal plants into your garden or landscape. She will be discussing proper habitat, soil and light conditions, growing from seed vs bare root or seedlings and the increased wildlife value the plants will bring to your property. Erika will be focusing predominantly on native medicinal species (such as Echinacea, Butterfly weed, Black Cohosh, and Goldenseal), but will be available for questions regarding non-native species (such as Rosemary, Calendula, Hyssop, and Motherwort).
The Herb Center is located in the City of Gahanna — the Herb Capital of Ohio — just east of downtown Columbus and adjacent to Port Columbus International Airport in the heart of Gahanna. The Nafzger-Miller house, in which the Herb Center is located, is listed in the National Register of Historical Places with the original structure being built in 1855 and additions made to the home in 1910. The center includes a gift shop, parlor and kitchen and is used for classes, parties, meetings and rentals.
